Received from Lisa Preis

A very nice envelope decorated with a colorful rooster sent by Lisa. In the note included in the envelope, Lisa asks me why the rooster is the symbol of France. This is a very good question. First of all, the rooster is not an “official” symbol of France. It is mainly used today in sports. The most widespread explanation is because of the homonymy between Gallus (the Latin name of the inhabitants of Gaul, Gaul being the former name of territory where France is now located) and gallus (rooster in Latin). But this explanation is sometimes contested, so at the end I don’t really know.

Anyway the envelope is just fantastic and it is even better in real life than on the scanned image.
