A couple of pigs celebrating the new year for Nicole Eippers

This envelope frustrates me. I must confess. The reason is the following. The two pigs come from a paper napkin. My first objective was to collage the pieces of napkin on the envelope that is made from a paper bag. I had seen this technique used many times on YouTube. But all my trials failed. I got wrinkles. The napkin tore. So, I finally gave up and I scanned the napkin, printed the pigs on a sheet of paper and cut them out. If you have good advices/tips to collage a paper napkin I would be happy to hear from you, as this is a technique I really want to try!

  1. I just did a Google search for *how to collage a napkin* and there are many tutorials. My first thought would be to use a light coat of spray glue to hold the napkin in place. Then apply whatever you use for top coats. The nice thing about napkins is that the inks are not going to run.

    1. Thank you Jean. I habe seen a lot of tutorials indeed and it always seemed easy. I have the feeling I did what I should have done. May be the issue is with the glue I m using (Mod Podge) it is may be too wet...

  2. Yes - I think ModPodge might be too wet for some napkins. Spray glue works better - but you might need to hold the napkin down - or the force of the spray might blow the napkin away. You could use pins to hold it to a piece of foam core or cardboard when you sprayed it.
